In 2022, internet and public transit are necessities to keep people connected to work, school, and community. Yet, these fundamentals are still not accessible or affordable for everyone across Toronto. Toronto must commit to building this necessary infrastructure for a truly livable city.
- Invest in TTC operating funding to protect and increase transit service levels.
- Move quickly to implement 10 bus and streetcar priority corridors in the next term of Council as per the RapidTO plan.
- Create a truly affordable transit system for all, starting with free passes for low-income residents and seniors.
- Keep transit public, delivered by the City, and keep private profit out.
- Commit to establishing a municipal broadband network.
- Ensure access to $10/month high-speed internet to all low- and moderate-income people.
- Provide free public wi-fi in all City-owned buildings and facilities, including public transit.
- Advocate for provincial funding to provide discounted or free integrated transit options so that all riders travelling within Toronto pay a single flat fare between TTC, GO, and Union Pearson Express and enjoy a free transfer across municipal boundaries.
