Across our city, there are growing crises in housing, health, poverty, safety and climate. We need and deserve better - and the solutions are possible.
With a new term of City Council just beginning, this is our opportunity to come together and demand better. If we raise our voices together, we can spark bold change and push leaders at City Hall to take action that leads to real change.
A City for All must be grounded in truth, reconciliation, justice and equality. It must be grounded in a more equitable and accessible city that is affordable, liveable, safe, and prosperous for all. And it must be grounded in democratic processes and priorities that are shaped by communities.
The calls to action and policy demands in this platform are not exhaustive but are intended as a starting point for a platform for the new term of City Council to begin addressing the growing crises in health, poverty, housing, safety, and climate across the city. This list will be updated and changed to reflect the feedback, priorities and concerns of our partners and the communities we work with and for.
Toronto City Council approved its first Reconciliation Action Plan informed by extensive consultation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis community members, organizations, Elders, Knowledge Carriers, and youth. As a first, key step towards a city for all, we call on City Council to uphold, prioritize and fully fund the commitments made in this plan in the next term of Council.
